Unsuckify your meetings

Most meetings suck.

It’s a sad truth.

Invites are chucked in diaries with little thought to the experience of those who’ll be joining. Sometimes you’re lucky to get an agenda, and then turn up to realise that’s an hour of your life you’ll never get back.

But here’s the thing, crap meetings don’t have to be the norm.

We’re here to share some simple tips on how to unsuckify your meetings, and it all starts at the beginning…

🔍 Tip #1: Start with check-ins

Before diving into the nitty-gritty, take a moment for everyone to share how they're feeling. Whether it's a quick mood gif or a sentence about their weekend, check-ins set the tone for an open and supportive environment. Someone not feeling so good? Follow-up with them afterwards.

💡 Tip #2: Mix in energizers

No one likes a snoozefest. Shake things up with a fun energizer activity! How about a lightning round of this or that, a stretch and share, or a mini dance party to your favourite tunes (yes, seriously)? Energizers get the blood pumping and the laughter flowing!

👥 Tip #3: Rotate facilitators

Let different team members take the reins! Not only does this keep things fresh, but it also empowers everyone in the team to step into leadership roles and share their unique perspectives.

🔗 Tip #4: Encourage open dialogue

Ain't no room for monotony in our meetings! Keep the conversation flowing by actively encouraging everyone to share their thoughts, ideas, and even constructive feedback. Diverse perspectives make for richer discussions!

🌈 Tip #5: Celebrate wins

Big or small, victories deserve a shoutout! Take a moment to celebrate achievements, milestones, and even those little wins that often go unnoticed (we love to celebrate every time anyone - mainly our ops lead Nic - adds a new emoji to Slack). Recognising and appreciating each other's efforts builds a culture of positivity and camaraderie.

🌱 Tip #6: Experiment and adapt

Don't be afraid to switch things up! What works for one team might not resonate with another, so keep experimenting with different techniques until you find the perfect recipe for your ways of working. Flexibility is key!

We believe that meetings don't have to be a necessary evil. They can actually be the highlight of your team's day! So, why not sprinkle in some check-ins, throw in a few energizers, and watch the magic happen? Your team will thank you, and you might just find yourself looking forward to those Monday meetings! 💼✨
